Giancarlo Stanton followed up quickly on his 0-for-5 home opener performance by launching a two run blast in the first inning to give the New York Yankees an early 2-1 lead. Gary Sanchez would follow up with a towering two-run blast of his own in the bottom of the third before Aaron Judge provided another two-run home run in the fourth. This game marked the first time that the Yankees trio of power hitters all homered in the same game as the Yankees went on rout the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 7-2.
