Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels did not give up an earned run, struck out nine, and also collected a hit in his debut for the Cubs. The only other pitchers to do that in their first games after switching teams are Nolan Ryan (1972 Angels), Roger Clemens (2004 Astros) and John Smoltz (2009 Cardinals). His nine strikeouts and zero earned runs in a Cubs debut has only been done by three other Cubs pitchers since earned runs became an official stat in the National League in 1912.
