Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez was voted the AL Player of the Month and Dodgers infielder Justin Turner was voted the NL Player of the Month for August. Martinez batted .373 with 24 runs scored, 38 hits, 11 doubles, seven home runs, 25 RBI, 14 walks and two stolen bases over 26 games. This is his second career Player of the Month Award. Turner mean while batted .402 with 22 runs scored, 11 doubles, a triple, six home runs, 20 RBI and a stolen base in 25 games played, cementing his first career NL Player of the Month Award.
