Shohei Ohtani began September by having the Angels recommend he undergo Tommy John surgery, but responded with a pair of home runs that same evening. The rookie put together a .310/.371/.632 slash line with seven total home runs and 18 RBI to finish with a .564 slugging percentage that tied for sixth among all players with at least 350 plate appearances. Juan Soto continued to impress as a 19-year-old, becoming the youngest player to steal three bases in a game. He also recorded his third multi-home-run game to set a new record for teenagers. Soto had a .282/.383/.525 slash line with six home runs and 20 RBI in September.
