C.C. Sabathia needed just three strikeouts to become the 17th pitcher in MLB history to notch 3,000 strikeouts and wasted little time reaching the milestone. In the bottom of the second inning, Sabathia caught David Peralta looking on a called strike three, sent Christian Walker down swinging and concluded the frame with a strikeout of former teammate John Ryan Murphy.
