Max Scherzer stifled the Cincinnati Reds over eight innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 15 batters. The dominant right-hander reached a season-high 120 pitches in the effort and refused to come out of the game with two outs in the seventh. Scherzer faced Joey Votto and retired him in three pitches to cap his 15-K effort.
