Nine Pitchers Combine for Shutout

The San Diego Padres used nine pitchers in their 4-0 win over the Cardinals, marking the most pitchers used in a nine-inning combined shutout since at least 1901. Craig Stammen got things started, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings in his first start since 2010. Eight other Padres pitchers followed to power the 4-0 win in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series, giving the Padres their first Postseason series victory in 22 years.
