JULY 28, 1991 — Nicaraguan right-hander Dennis Martinez stifled the Dodgers over nine perfect innings, becoming the first pitcher born outside of the United States to toss a perfect game. Martinez struck out five batters and outdueled Mike Morgan, who was also perfect through five innings.
