Orlando Cepeda

AUGUST 8, 1973 — In the first season with a designated hitter in the American League, Orlando Cepeda made noise for the Red Sox. The right-handed slugger tied the MLB record with four doubles in a game. Cepeda also drove in six runs in his stellar performance for Boston and led the team to a 9-4 win over the Royals in Kansas City.
