AUGUST 13, 1969 — Jim Palmer was in the middle of a breakout campaign, carrying a 1.94 ERA into an August 14 contest against the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander did not disappoint in his 13th start of the season. Palmer dominated the opposition, holding the Oakland Athletics hitless with eight strikeouts, firing his first career no-hitter.
