The Blue Jays lineup wore out the Yankees bullpen during the sixth inning of their Monday evening matchup. Toronto sent 13 batters to the plate against three separate Yankees relievers, who threw a total of 65 pitches, in the bottom half of the frame. The home team scored 10 runs on five hits, the biggest of which was a grand slam by catcher Danny Jansen, the first of his Major League career. This output was the first time Toronto had scored 10 runs in an inning since August 31, 2010, vs. Tampa Bay.
