JUNE 21, 1977 — Squaring off against Dennis Martinez and the Orioles, Luis was looking to help the Red Sox further entrench themselves in first place in the AL East Division. The right-hander succeeded in stifling the Orioles offense, allowing just two hits in a complete-game shutout, leading the Red Sox to a 7-0 win.
