Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to be named an All-Star as both a pitcher and a position player in the same season. The two-way star was selected to the American League All-Star roster as a designated hitter and also made the team as a pitcher. Ohtani will be the first player to start the All-Star Game as a DH since the DH rule was implemented in the American League in 1973.
