Gaylord Perry

Gaylord Perry seized the 1978 National League Cy Young Award for a dazzling year on the bump. The Williamston, North Carolina, product and future Hall of Famer led the League in wins (21) and held an impressive 2.73 ERA over 260 and 2/3 innings of work. With this recognition, Perry became the first pitcher in MLB history to capture the Cy Young Award in both the American League and the National League. Gaylord took home the AL Cy Young Award in 1972 for his stellar campaign with the Cleveland Indians.
