In search of a bright young star, the Detroit Tigers selected Akil Baddoo with the third overall pick in the 2020 Rule Five Draft. Baddoo surpassed all organizational expectations in his electrifying 2021 Spring Training efforts, earning his first MLB start on Opening Weekend. The left-handed batter crushed the first pitch he saw over the left-field wall, making him the second Detroit Tigers player in franchise history to do so. The first was George Vico, dating all the way back to 1948.
