Growing up a switch-hitter, it was natural for Chipper Jones to be compared to famed Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle. After 17 seasons spent in the big leagues, Chipper was on the verge of passing “The Mick” in career RBI. Jones tied the legend the evening before with a two-run homer, and then passed Mantle in the top of the first inning on this day when he collected his 1,510th career RBI.
