Despite initially being given the day off, Akil Baddoo entered the game late as a pinch-runner and later came up to bat in the bottom of the 10th inning with a golden opportunity to continue the historic start to his rookie season. With the score tied, 3-3, and two runners in scoring position, Baddoo torched a line drive to right field to drive in the go-ahead run in a 4-3, walk-off win over the Twins. This put Baddoo in extremely rare company, becoming the first MLB player since 1900 with two home runs, a grand slam, and a walk-off hit in his first three games.
