First podium after scintilating qualifying lap

George Russell records the first podium finish of his career following an unreal qualifying performance. Pulling off one of the shocks of the season, Russell drove imperiously in the wet conditions to qualify in P2. The 23-year-old's incredible performance was matched only by Max Verstappen who went one better in the final lap of the session. However it was Russell who was the talk of the race. With the race red-flagged due to bad weather, Russell was rewarded with the first podium of his career – no doubt the first of many.
