Shohei Ohtani
LAUNCHES MLB LEADING 40TH HR & FIRES A CAREER-HIGH 8 IP WITH 8 Ks
"Shotime" was on full display in Wednesday night's matchup between the Angels and the Detroit Tigers. Shohei Ohtani took the mound for the 18th time this year and strung together a brilliant outing. The Oshu, Japan native scattered six hits over a career-high eight innings pitched, allowed one run and fanned eight batters. Offensively, Shohei clubbed his League-leading 40th home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning, which traveled 430 feet to deep right field. The 27-year-old phenom is the first lefty batter in franchise history to eclipse the 40-homer mark and the fastest to get there, as he did it in just 122 games. The Angels would go on to defeat the Tigers, 3-1.
