Joe Torre

On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the New York Yankees and New York Mets took the field together during the pre-game ceremonial remembrance in tribute to the fallen. Joe Torre and Bobby Valentine, the managers of the New York ballclubs during the 2001 season, fired out the first pitches of the contest side-by-side uniting the two teams as one. All participating players and managers wore hats indicating the first responders who were so courageous during that day to signify one united New York.
