In game one of the doubleheader between the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians, Salvador Pérez swung his way into the MLB record book. In the top of the fifth inning, Pérez connected on a breaking ball, delivered from Triston McKenzie, and sent it well into the left-field seats for a two-run blast. This homer marked number 46 on the season for the 31-year-old, setting the new single-season home run record for a catcher.
