Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
48th HR sets record for player age 22 or younger
Toronto Toronto Blue Jays
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the way for the Toronto Blue Jays 12-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles with an historic achievement at the plate. The 6-foot-2 first baseman launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning off a 95-mph heater delivered from Marcos Diplan. This blast marked Guerrero Jr.’s 48th longball on the year, marking the most homers in a season by a player age 22 or younger in MLB history. The previous record was held by Eddie Mathews with 47 blasts during his 1953 campaign with the Milwaukee Braves.
