Angels designated hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani was unanimously named the American League Most Valuable Player, capping off one of the most incredible individual performances in Baseball history. Ohtani becomes the first designated hitter to win the award, but that’s only one half of the game for “Shotime.” The two-way phenom went 9-2 in 23 starts, striking out 156 batters in 130 and 1/3 innings pitched. When he wasn’t dazzling on the mound, he was mashing at the plate. The 27-year old clobbered 46 home runs, the most ever for a Japanese-born player.
