Washington Nationals third baseman Maikel Franco had the performance that the team’s front office was hoping for when he signed as a free agent this past offseason. The veteran from Azua, Dominican Republic, tore through the Atlanta Braves pitching, going 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and five RBI in the 11-2 victory. Back in the NL East Division after two seasons, Franco could be in store for a big season in the nation’s capital.
