Gerrit Cole

On a night where the New York Yankees were in search of their 50th win of the season, right-hander Gerrit Cole nearly gave fans another achievement to cheer for. The 31-year-old was nearly untouchable all night, striking out 12 Tampa Bay Rays batters over seven and one-third innings. Cole allowed just one hit on the night – a single to lead off the bottom of the eighth – in what would be a 4-2 victory for the visiting Yankees.
