Detroit Tigers fans, despite losing the game against the Boston Red Sox, 5-3, had something to smile about when all was said and done: rookie Spencer Torkelson recorded his first MLB hit. The 22-year-old Torkelson connected with a fastball from Red Sox veteran hurler Rich Hill. Torkelson sent the ball flying to right-center-field, dropping just before it could be caught, allowing the Petaluma, California native to make it to second base with ease.
