George Russell

George Russell’s smart pass earned him a fifth career podium at the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE FRANCE 2022. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team driver started the race in P6 and found himself in a battle with Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez throughout. A safety car pit stop meant Russell was able to gain the upper hand on Perez with the two cars coming together as they duelled on lap 32. On Lap 51, Russell made his move. He swept past the slower Perez out of the final corner and managed to hold off the Mexican’s efforts to take it back. He finished P3 just 0.815s ahead of Perez to claim a memorable podium.
