In 1998, the Arizona Diamondbacks were ready to go as the newest franchise in the National League. Their first victory, at home in front of 47,593 fans, was a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants. A trio of runs in the first inning provided all the offense needed and pitcher Andy Benes fired seven solid innings to notch the team's first victory.
