Francisco Lindor, who grew up with a strong reverence for all-time great Roberto Clemente, honored the Puerto Rican legend on his namesake night with a Club-record breaking home run in the third inning of last night’s contest between his New York Mets and the Pittsburgh Pirates. After belting the impactful longball, Lindor became the Mets shortstop with the most home runs in a single season with 24, topping previous record holder Asdrúbal Cabrera, whose mark was 23. What’s more, this two-run home run contributed to an eventual 7-1 victory for his Mets.
