Atlanta Braves rookie right-hander Bryce Elder turned in the most impressive start of his young career on Tuesday evening, shutting out the Washington Nationals by the score of 8-0. The 23-year-old University of Texas product struck out six over the nine scoreless frames, becoming the first Braves rookie to throw a shutout in 32 years. Paul Marak threw a 3-0 shutout for the Club on September 23, 1990, versus the Houston Astros – the only win of his big-league career.
