During Friday night's meeting with the Minnesota Twins, 21-year-old New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe hit the first home run of his Major League Baseball career. Leading off the bottom of the first inning, Volpe sent the second pitch of the frame high and deep to left-center field. Volpe becomes the latest Yankees hitter to hit a leadoff blast for his first career homer, last happening back on July 25, 1959 when Bobby Richardson pulled off the trick.
