It’s safe to say that the Cincinnati Reds are pleased with the early returns from Andrew Abbott. The starter has been simply outstanding, and that success continued on Friday against the Houston Astros. The 24-year-old worked six scoreless innings in a 2–1 victory, bringing his scoreless innings total to 17 and two-thirds. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Abbott is the first Major League pitcher since 1893 to begin his career with three scoreless starts of at least five innings.
