Last night, the Angels were donning their retro-inspired City Connect uniforms in their meeting with the Tampa Bay Rays and threw it all the way back to 1971 with a spectacularly rare 6-4-3-2 triple play. Notably, Nolan Schanuel became the first player since Sal Fasano in 1996 to be a part of a triple play on the day of his Major League Baseball debut. The play was so astonishing the Rays couldn’t believe it and challenged both the calls at first base and home plate, but after a replay review, the triple play stood.
