The Tampa Bay Rays promoted Osleivis Basabe on August 13th, and he has been a steady presence in the lineup, hitting .286 entering Tuesday's action. The shortstop set the icing on the cake in the Rays 12-4 win over the Colorado Rockies with his first MLB home run, but not just any longball. His first career dinger was a grand slam, making him the third player in franchise history to do so. He joins Wil Myers (2013) and Jorge Velandia (2007) to accomplish that feat. Basabe plans to give the home run ball to his daughter to hold onto.
