New York Mets rookie hurler Kodai Senga is having himself a solid first year in Major League Baseball. Facing Willi Castro in the fourth inning of last night’s game against the Minnesota Twins, the right-hander used his signature “ghost” forkball to get Castro to fish and picked up his third punchout of the game. With that whiff, he passed Jerry Koosman for second-most on the Mets all-time strikeout list for rookie pitchers before ending the night with 181 on the year.
