It was another day at the office for New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. The 33-year-old hurler tossed a gem on Sunday with seven scoreless innings of shutout, three-hit baseball. He racked up nine strikeouts in the outing, but it was his fifth-inning punchout of Milwaukee Brewers infielder Andrew Monasterio that made noise. The strikeout marked his 200th of 2023, making him the first Yankees player ever with three seasons with at least 200 strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 2.79, making it the lowest for any Yankees starter with 30+ starts in the Wild Card Era (since 1995).
