Orion Kerkering

It was an impressive debut for impressively-named Philadelphia Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering in Sunday's 5-2 win against the New York Mets. The Huntington Beach native delivered a devastating slider to record his first career punchout, getting Brett Baty to fish for it. Kerkering would get ahead quickly on the next batter, Rafael Ortega, before striking him out on another sharp breaking ball. His father watched from the stands, cheering and shedding joyous tears as his son made a statement in his first MLB appearance.
