Texas Rangers left-handed starter Andrew Heaney’s performance in yesterday afternoon’s bout between his Club and the Kansas City Royals was showstopping. Heaney, between the first and fourth innings, notched nine consecutive strikeouts, tying himself with Tigers hurlers Tyler Alexander and Doug Fister for the most consecutive strikeouts in American League history. Naturally, this means he also shattered Nolan Ryan’s long-held Rangers record of seven consecutive whiffs, which was set in 1991. Furthermore, Heaney picked up another strikeout over the course of his start, silencing the Royals bats en route to a 11-2 Rangers victory.
