Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams set the tone early in his team’s 10-9 win over the Atlanta Braves. Sunday’s leadoff man turned up the speed volume, swiping second base (46) in the opening frame to tie the Nationals single-season stolen base mark. With plenty of game left, Abrams took advantage of his wheels, stealing second base again in the eighth inning and setting a new franchise-best in that department in a season. The 22-year-old surpasses Trea Turner’s 2017 mark and holds the record with 47 swipes in a season.
