First Chinese driver to race on home soil

Zhou Guanyu made history by becoming the first Chinese driver to race on home soil at the FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX 2024. It was a special weekend for the Stake F1® Team KICK Sauber driver as he raced in his hometown and in front of his home fans for the first time. Zhou is already a hero amongst Chinese fans as he is the first Chinese driver to race in Formula 1. He made a promising start to the weekend with a ninth place finish in the F1® Sprint. Zhou battled hard to finish the main race in 14th place, becoming the first Chinese driver to finish a race at the Shanghai International Circuit. This special moment happened, rather fittingly, on the 20th Anniversary of the circuit.
