Acquired this offseason, Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O’Neill was penciled into Thursday’s lineup to do one thing: hit Opening Day home runs. O’Neill was automatic once again, smashing a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning. That was the 28-year-old’s fifth-straight Opening Day dinger (2020-24) and his first with his new Club, setting a new MLB record. His offense helped pave the way for the Red Sox to edge out the Seattle Mariners, 6-4.
