Jack Flaherty

Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty put together a career day on Tuesday afternoon. Pitching against his first MLB team, the right-hander was on from the start, striking out the first seven St. Louis Cardinals batters he saw to open the game. That tied an American League record, which is shared by four other hurlers. Flaherty wasn’t done though, finishing with a career-high 14 punchouts. “It was nice to come out and be in sync from pitch one,” Flaherty said after the outing.
