Tampa Bay Rays hurler Tyler Alexander flirted with perfection and history on Friday. The 29-year-old retired 22 consecutive batters to start his outing against the Toronto Blue Jays, before a bloop single in the eighth inning ended his perfect game bid. Alexander’s seven and one-third perfect innings ranks the second-furthest in Rays history behind Drew Rasmussen’s 24 outs against the Baltimore Orioles during the 2022 campaign. His performance went a long way to pick up a 4-3 win.
