Johnathan Rodríguez played the hero in more ways than one in the Cleveland Guardians win over the New York Mets, 6-3. The outfielder saved the day for his team late, singling in the seventh inning to drive in the go-ahead run. To add to the dramatics, the hit was Rodríguez’s first of his career, making him the fourth Cleveland player to record a go-ahead hit as his first in the seventh inning or later. That wasn’t his only act of heroism, as Rodríguez saved a baby bird lying in the outfield earlier in the game.
