Elly De la Cruz

Thursday marked one year since Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz’s MLB debut. Entering a game against the Chicago Cubs, De La Cruz became the first player since 1900 to log 50-plus extra-base knocks and 65-plus steals within a calendar year of his first career contest. Appropriately, the 22-year-old celebrated with a three-run shot to right field to give his Club the lead in the third inning, 3-0. It was his lone hit of the affair, but a big one as it helped grab an 8-4 win.
