Jesse Chavez

It’s been a long journey in the making for current Atlanta Braves pitcher Jesse Chavez, but he had something to write home about on Sunday. The 40-year-old right-hander, playing in his 17th MLB season, recorded the 1,000th punchout of his career. Chavez got Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young looking on an offspeed pitch to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning. The veteran picked up an additional strikeout an inning later for good measure.
