Elly De La Cruz made more headlines on Friday night. After walking in the bottom of the fourth inning, the speedster promptly swiped his 65th base of the season and 100th of his career. It made De La Cruz the fastest player in MLB history to reach 100 stolen bases and 100 extra-base hits (251 games), passing Juan Samuel’s previous record (253 games). He also joins Rickey Henderson and Vince Coleman as the only players with at least 100 steals in their first two seasons.
