Joey Wiemer

Joey Wiemer is doing everything he can to make an impression in his first season with Washington. The Nationals outfielder’s third-inning single joined Carlos Delgado (2002) as the only players in the Live Ball Era (since 1920) to reach base in 10 straight plate appearances to begin a campaign. “That’s what makes me, me,” Wiemer said after a 13-2 win over Philadelphia.
