Clinging onto a slim 2-1 lead over Kansas City in the ninth inning, the Detroit Tigers called upon veteran Kenley Jansen to close out the win. After allowing a leadoff single, the 17-year reliever retired the next three Royals hitters to secure his 479th career save. With that, Jansen surpassed Hall of Famer Lee Smith for third place on the all-time saves list.
