Justin Verlander

Justin Verlander escaped a messy fifth inning with a clutch strikeout of Andrew Benintendi, then breezed through the sixth inning with his team ahead to collect the win in Game 1 of the ALCS. The win marked Verlander’s 13th Postseason win in his career, the second most ever by an American League pitcher. Only Andy Pettite has more (19).
